Masks reduce the notifications you receive and the number of video events that appear on your timeline by ignoring areas that cause false alarms. You can manage your masks from the Device page in your settings.
In order to use masks, you will need a Canary All-in-One device, with firmware version 1.4.5 or later and Canary app version 2.5.0 or later.
Note: Masks are exclusively available on Canary All-in-One.
To set up a mask, follow these steps:
- Open the Canary App
- Tap the three lines in the top right
- Tap Settings
- Select the location to which you would like to add a mask, if you have more than one
- Tap Devices
- Tap on the name of the device
- Tap Add mask
- Drag the edges of the mask until it is the desired size and position
- Tap Save mask
Masking pulls an image from the last recorded video event on your timeline to preview your masks. If you see “image unavailable” you may not have a recent enough thumbnail image from your Canary for Masking to use.
Note: Be sure to keep your Canary still after you have applied a mask. Changing the placement of your device will change the placement of your mask as well.
