A full reset - deactivation and reactivation will refresh or update the firmware in your Canary device and bring the device back online. If you are a member of our Premium Service, please download any video events you wish to keep before removing the device.
Step One: Remove Device
1. From the Dashboard tap the gear icon in the top right corner.
2. Tap on "My devices".
3. Tap on the device you want to remove.
4. Tap on "Remove device".
5. You will be prompted to enter your Canary account password. Enter your password and tap "Remove".
Your device has now been removed. An email will be sent to the account owner confirming this.
Step Two: Reactivate Device
1. From the Dashboard tap the gear icon in the top right corner
2. In the menu, scroll down to "Take Action", and tap on "Add a device".
3. Select the location you are setting the device up on, then tap "Next".
4. Select the type of Canary you are setting up.
5. Next "Add Premium Service" or tap "I don't want premium security".
6. Plug in your Canary device.
7. Follow the onscreen steps to pair your device.
8. For the Canary Pro, place your hand on top of the device for 30 seconds to initiate pairing.
9. Tap on the serial number when it appears on the screen.
10. Select your Wi-Fi Network.
11. Enter your Wi-Fi password, then tap on "Next".
Once connected to the internet, your device will attempt to download the latest firmware and update. Please follow the onscreen steps to update the name of your device, and check the settings on the device. Your app will show when the device is fully updated and online.
Additional Device fee?
If you are on our Premium Service you may receive notifications of additional device fees. Our system is designed to detect device resets and you should not see a charge. If you believe you have been incorrectly charged, please reach out to our Customer Care team for further assistance.
