When your Canary device falls offline, the Canary app will indicate this to you by displaying a red banner and Watch Live will display Device offline. When this happens we have an in app program that will help you bring the device back online. The in app program is a step by step process and is easily navigated, below we will walk you through what you should expect from the program.
Please note this program is only available on the Canary app version 7.8.0 and above.
When your device falls offline you are able to follow some in app steps to bring the device back online. To access the steps you can tap on the red banner "Device is not connected to the internet". | |
Step One: Unplug and plug in your device Please follow the onscreen steps to power cycle your device:
If the device comes online the app will detect this and exit the program. |

If the device remains offline the app will guide you to the next step. Alternatively, you can tap Try again to retry the above steps. | |
Step Two: Reconnect to Wi-Fi The app will now guide you to refresh the Wi-Fi connection. Please tap on “Pair my device to Wi-Fi Network”. |

To pair your Canary Pro or View please place your hand on the top of the device until it flashes blue. Once paired the device will emit an audible chirp and the app will display “paired”. |

Next please select your Wi-Fi Network. | |
Enter your Wi-Fi password, then tap on “Next”.
If the device comes online the app will detect this and exit the program. |

If the device remains offline the app will guide you to the next step. | |
Step Three: Reactivate my device
You will now be guided through a complete reset. Once ready tap on “Reconnect my device”. |

Enter your account password and tap on “Remove”. | |
Now you will need to reactivate the device. Tap on “Add Canary device”. |

Select your location, then tap on “Next” | |
Select the type of Canary you are setting up. | |
Ensure your Canary is plugged in, and tap Next. | |
Then you will need to pair your Canary device. To pair your Canary Pro or View please place your hand on the top of the device until it flashes blue. |

This time the serial number of the device you are activating will show on screen, tap on the serial number. Once paired the device will emit an audible chirp and the app will display “paired”. |

If you have a Canary Pro you will need to select how you will connect to the internet. Please tap on “Connect with Wi-Fi” or “Connect with Ethernet”. | |
Next please select your Wi-Fi Network. | |
Enter your Wi-Fi password, then tap on “Next”. | |
Please select a name for your Canary device, or give the device a custom name. Then tap on “Next”. |

Your Canary will now need to update to the latest firmware, this will give you the opportunity to check the settings on your device, please tap “Continue” and follow the onscreen steps.

Once updated the device should come back online. Please tap on “Next”, if you wish to check the status of the device return to the Home Screen and press on Watch Live. You can also readd Premium Service by tapping Add Premium Service. |
