With App version 8.11.0 and higher, you can now use widgets. Widgets allow you to view your Timeline and Watch Live.
How to add a widget (iOS):
You can add a widget to your Apple device by following the steps below:
- Go to the Home Screen.
- Find the Home Screen page where you want to add the widget, then touch and hold the Home Screen background until the apps begin to jiggle.
- Tap Edit at the top of the screen.
- Tap Add Widget to open the widget gallery.
- Scroll or search to find Canary, tap the Watch Live or Latest Event
- Swipe through the size options.
- When you see the size you want, tap Add Widget.
- While the apps are still jiggling, move the widget where you want it on the screen.
- Tap Done.
Your widget has now been added successfully.
How to add a widget (Android):
You can add a Widget to your Android device by following the steps below:
- On the Home Screen, touch and hold an empty space.
- Tap Widgets.
- Here, you’ll find widgets for apps installed on your phone. Scroll down until you see Canary.
- Touch and hold a Watch Live or Latest Event widget.
- Drag the widget to where you want it and lift your finger.
Your widget has now been added successfully.
Watch Live widgets:
You can also use widgets to interact with the Watch Live feature. You can set three sizes, small, medium, and large. These are also available in light and dark mode. When you tap on a widget to Watch Live, you will be brought to the app.
What can I do with my Watch Live widget?
The widget will give you immediate access to Watch Live for your selected camera from your homescreen. For devices with Premium Service users, you can also see the thumbnail of your most recent video entry from your chosen device.
How to use my Watch Live widgets?
Your Watch Live widget is linked to a specific device, to change the device:
- Go to your widget.
- Tap and hold the widget until an option menu appears.
- From here you can change to a different device.
- After you have selected your location, tap save.
Latest Event Widgets:
You can now use widgets to view the latest event on your timeline. You can set three sizes, small, medium, and large. They are also available in light and dark mode. When you tap on a widget to play an entry, you will be brought to the app.
What can I see with my Latest Event widget?
The small and medium widgets, will allow you to view your most recent video entry, whereas the larger size contains the most recent video entry with additional information:
- The time the video entry was taken.
- The date the video entry was captured.
- Any detections in your video entry.

Non-video events can also be viewed with the Timeline widget.
How to use my Latest Event widgets?
Each widget is linked to a location, and only one location is visible in your widget. If you'd like to change the location on your widget, you can do so by following these steps:
- Go to your widget.
- Tap and hold the Widget until an option menu appears.
- From here you can change the displayed location.
- After you have selected your location, tap save.
A location must have an active device to be viewed on a widget.
