What is a Location?
Every device needs to belong to a Location, with one Location for each address at which you have a Canary.
Note: You can have up to four Canary devices at each location.
Each Location has its own settings, where you can modify features unique to each Location.
To get to the Location settings page:
- Swipe down on your Home Screen.
- If you have more than one Location, swipe left or right to select the Location you would like to modify.
- Tap Location details.
From here you’ll see the following settings:
How do I create a location?
You will create a Location as part of the setup process, but you can add more Locations afterwards. For more information on creating multiple Locations, visit this article.
How do I select a location?
You can switch between locations to which you have access by following these steps:
- Swipe down on the Home Screen.
- Swipe left or right until you see the desired location.
- Tap on the name of the location at the bottom of the screen.
How many locations can I have?
As many as you’d like! There is currently no limit to the number of Locations that you can add, but we recommend only creating a location if you have a Canary there.
How do I move a device to another location?
If you only have a single Canary location and you plan on moving, you can keep your current location and update your Address and geofence in the Location detail settings.
If you have multiple locations (e.g. ‘Home’ and ‘Vacation Home’), contact Canary Customer Experience for assistance moving your device between Locations.
How do I remove and deactivate a device?
Deactivating a Canary completely disassociates it from your account, so the only reason to deactivate your device is if you are giving it away, selling it, or returning it.
