Watch Live allows you to view live HD video & audio from your camera to your phone. Canary can use your phone’s location to automatically switch between Home, Away, and Private modes when you arrive or leave your home. By default, your Home mode preferences are always set to do not record.
When Watch Live is off on your device or if your location is set to private, the camera and microphone are completely off. To Watch Live, Canary needs to be in a mode that's setup to record video.

To enable Watch Live, you may need to:
- Manually switch to Privacy mode or Away mode.
- Customize Home or Night mode to record video.
- Customize Home mode to make Watch Live available.
Note: Home Mode Customization is available with Premium Service only.
To manually switch the modes of a Canary device:
- Open the Canary app.
- From your Home screen, tap the gear icon in the top right corner
- Scroll down to Take action
- Tap Manage my modes to change your mode preferences.
- Tap the toggle next to Automatically switch modes to turn off this feature.
To customize home or night mode to record video:
- Open the Canary app.
- From your Home screen, tap the gear icon in the top right corner
- Scroll down to Take action
- Tap Manage my modes to change your mode preferences.
- Tap Home or Night mode
- Tap Record video
Note: Recording and alerting in home and night modes is restricted to Canary Premium Service users. To learn more about Canary Premium Service, visit Premium Service.
Turn off Privacy mode:
- Open the Canary app.
- Tap the circle above Privacy mode at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap an alternative mode.
Customize Home mode to make Watch Live available:
- Open the Canary app.
- From your Home screen, tap the gear icon in the top right corner
- Scroll down to Take action
- Tap Manage my modes to change your mode preferences.
- Tap Home mode
- Tap Don't record video and tap the toggle next to Watch live available
