What are Canary's modes?
You can set Canary to one of three modes: Away, Home, and Night. You can also customize your Canary to switch between these modes automatically when users leave or arrive home, or you can manually select them from the Canary app’s Home Screen.
- Away mode: When all users are away.
- Home mode: When a user is home.
- Night mode: When a user is home and asleep, based on your schedule.
- Privacy: When you need privacy temporarily, you can turn all cameras at your location off.
Note: Recording in all modes, and alerting in home modes, is available to Canary Premium Service users. To learn more about Canary Premium Service, visit Premium Service.
How do I customize modes?
By default, all locations are set to not record in Home mode, with Watch Live on. Unless your location has Canary Premium Service, you will not be able to customize device behavior in Home mode. Even though video won’t be recorded, you can still Watch Live as long as that function is turned on. Learn more about Premium Service.

How do I set my location to private?
For additional privacy while at least one user is home, you can stop your Canary from recording motion by adjusting your Home or Night mode settings. Alternatively, if you normally have your Canary set to record while someone's at home and want some privacy, you can use Privacy mode to temporarily stop all your Canary devices from recording video. |
