You can now have 24 hours of continuous video recording with the Canary Mobile app version 9.0.0 and Canary camera firmware version 8.5.0.
What is 24h Continuous Video Recording?
24h Continuous Video Recording is a Premium Service benefit that captures up to 24 hours of uninterrupted video, so you can see what happened before, during, and after any event. Unlike smart video detection, this feature doesn't require motion to trigger a recording — it's always capturing.
How to enable Continuous Video Recording:
- Open the Canary App.
- Tap the gear icon in the top right corner.
- Tap Manage my modes.
- Tap on the mode you would like to edit.
- Tap on either Set All Devices, or Set Each Device.
- Tap the toggle next to Record everything.
Please note: This will record continuously while your location is in the mode you have selected
How to view your 24 hour recording:
- Open the Canary App.
- On the Dashboard, tap the 24hr icon, next to the Watch Live button.
Here, you will see your 24 hour recording.
How to navigate your 24 hour recording:
When you open your continuous recording, you will see the following:
- A Play/Pause button.
- Two arrows to skip ahead/go back by 10 seconds.
- Smart Video Previews: a carousel where you can jump to any event that occurred. (eg, package or pet.) You can scroll through this, and tap on the event thumbnail to jump to this point in the video.
- The Timescale: This will display the last 24hrs.
- Timescale elements:
- Blue indicator dots and dashes represent your timeline events when motion occurred.
- One event is one blue dot.
- For multiple back to back events, you’ll see a longer bar.
- Blue indicator dots and dashes represent your timeline events when motion occurred.
Clip creation:
You can also create clips from your 24 hour recording. These clips can be up to 10 minutes long, and you can make up to 20 videos per day.
How to create a clip:
- Tap the menu in the top right corner.
- Tap Create Clip.
- The Clip Creation tool will now appear. The end time will automatically be where you stopped watching, and the start time will be 5 minutes before. You can extend and shorten these times by scrolling through the time-dials.
- Tap Create Clip.
Your video will now be in your Timeline, where you can download and bookmark your video. You can learn more about bookmarking and downloading videos in these FAQs:
