Mobile hotspots are a method that some people use to connect to the Internet in their home, which are usually provided by cellular carriers. The way that mobile hotspots connect to the Internet is different than standard Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and we don’t recommend that you use them with Canary.
Data Caps
Mobile hotspots typically have low data caps, meaning there is a finite amount of data they’re allowed to send and receive. Canary typically uploads more data per month than the average hotspot data plan, which may result in overage fees.
Cellular Signal Issues
Hotspots depend on a cellular signal to connect, which may be weak in your home, or where you choose to put Canary. Even when stationary, a hotspot may switch cellular towers to get a better signal which might result in Canary having connection issues. Wi-Fi networks are short range, and tend to be more reliable.
Connection Speed
Because cellular signal strength varies, your connection speeds may prohibit an optimal Watch Live experience.
