How to enable Watch Live
By default, your Home mode preferences are always set to private. When your device is set to private, the camera and microphone are completely off. To Watch Live, Canary needs to be in a mode that's setup to record video or to allow Watch Live and not record video.
To enable Watch Live, you may need to:
- Manually switch to Away mode.
- Manually switch off Privacy mode.
- Customize Home or Night mode to record video.
- Customize Home mode to make Watch Live available.
Users on a Premium Service Plan are also able stream Watch Live video on their Desktop via the webapp.
Note: To learn more about switching your mode, visit Why does it say “Set to private.” on my Home Screen?
On the Home Screen, tap Watch Live on a device to view a livestream of your home. |
Switch between devices
Swipe from right to left on the live video to switch between viewing multiple Canary devices at a single location.
Emergency options
From portrait mode, tap Sound the siren or use the One-tap to Police button to get instant access to local Police, Fire, and EMS.
If you have a Canary Pro, you can manually activate Canary’s 90+ db siren to deter intruders and alert neighbors to activity in your home. With the Canary Flex and Canary View you can manually activate an alarm that will emit a siren sound.
Viewing fullscreen
To view fullscreen, rotate your mobile device into landscape mode, or pinch to zoom while in portrait mode.
Note: Make sure orientation lock is disabled on your mobile device.

Why Can't I Watch live?
There could be a number of contributors to any performance issues with Watch Live, but the following guide aims to offer potential solutions for determining whether this is an issue that can be solved on your end, or needs to be investigated on ours.
Attempting to use the Watch Live feature while on a slow internet connection can cause issues with your Watch Live experience: the video quality may be low, skip or buffer endlessly.
When our system detects situations where the Watch Live video stream is having trouble keeping up, the device will adjust the quality of the video stream to ensure the feed is not dropped. However, users on especially slow connections may not have sufficient bandwidth to support even the lowest-quality stream. There are a few things you can try to resolve these issues.
