With Canary’s Alexa Integration, you can ask your Alexa device to stream live video from your Canary Pro, Canary Flex, and Canary View devices. This integration supports streaming live video to your Echo Show, Echo Spot, Fire TV, and Fire TV Stick (2nd generation).
Amazon Alexa is supported on Canary Pro and Canary View devices running firmware v3.0.0 or higher, and Canary Flex devices running firmware v2.3.0 or higher. If you're not on these version, you can contact customer support to get you set up. The Canary Alexa Skill is currently available in the US, UK, and Germany. We will continue to expand this integration into other regions later this year.

Using Canary with Amazon Alexa
Start off by saying “Alexa, show the [Device Name]”, substituting in the name of your Canary device.
Here are a few examples of phrases you can use:
“Alexa, show the Front Door.” |
“Alexa, show the Baby’s Room.” |
When you're finished watching you can simply say:
"Alexa, go home." |
"Alexa, hide the Back Door." |
Note: For an improved experience, it is best to use device names that are short and simple, like Living Room, Bedroom, or Front Door.
Canary devices that are set to private will not be able to stream video.
Temperature Command
This skill lets you check the temperature in your flat. It only works for the Canary Pro as it has a temperature sensor (using this skill for Canary View or Flex should return an error saying "not supported").
To check the temperature in your flat, try saying:
"Alexa, what is the temperature in the LIVING ROOM?" |
Alexa will then show you the most recent temperature from the correct device. |
Person Detection Command
This skill allows you to set up a notification to Alexa when a person is detected.
You can activate this command by:
1. Enabling "person detection announcements" in Alexa app 2. Then trigger a person entry |
Your Echo device should then announce "Person detected in LIVING ROOM". |
View Saved Videos Command
With this skill you can access your saved Canary video recordings.
Note: Videos are only stored if the user has a premium service subscription.
Here are a few examples of phrases you can say:
"Alexa, show me the last person in the LIVING ROOM." |
"Alexa, show me the last activity in the LIVING ROOM." |
