Setting up the Canary Flex, like all of our products is designed to be simple and seamless.
Create a Canary account
Sign up to a Canary account to manage one or more Canary devices. Use an existing email address as your username, but we strongly recommend creating a unique password for your account.

You can Sign Up directly in the Canary app:
- Open the Canary app and tap "Get Started".
- Type your email address and password in the corresponding fields.
- Tap "Next" when you're finished.
Download the Canary app
Download the Canary app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Set Up your Canary Flex
After creating your account, sign into the Canary app. If this is your first Canary device ,the app will automatically take you to set up. Please follow the onscreen steps.
If this is an additional device, you will need to follow these steps: 1. From the Home Screen tap the gear icon in the top right corner. 2. In the menu, scroll down to "Take Action", tap on "Add a device". 3. Select the location you are setting the device up on, then tap "Next". 4. Select the type of Canary you are setting up. 6. Plug in your Canary device. 7. For the Canary Flex, press the button on the back of the device. 8. Tap on the serial number when it appears. 9. Select your Wi-Fi Network. 10. Enter your Wi-Fi password, then tap on "Next". Once Connected to the internet, your device will download the latest firmware and update. Please follow the onscreen steps to update the name of your device, and check the settings on the device. 11. Tap next to cycle through the information on Modes and Motion alerts. 12. When prompted, tap Enable Location Access Once your app is finished updating, it will show when the device is fully updated and online. Trouble with setup
Setup shouldn’t take longer than ten minutes. If setup fails or if it takes longer than ten minutes, there are a number of things that could be interfering with your device.

Trouble with Bluetooth pairing
If you’re having trouble pairing with Bluetooth, there may be signal interference in your home, or there may be an issue with your phone.

Device already activated
If you're seeing a "Device has already been activated" message when you try to setup your Canary, it's possible that your credentials are incorrect, you might have created a Canary account before or you have a pre-owned device which is still connected to the previous account.
