If you often receive unnecessary notifications for normal activity such as shadows or pet movement, you can adjust your motion notification settings to control which types of events send you notifications.
Canary will continue to record all motion events in any mode you have customized to record video, but you’ll only get notifications for events that interest you.
To access your motion notification settings:
Adjust Your Settings
Additionally with the release of Person Detection, you can customize your notifications and decide whether you want to receive alerts for people only, or receive notifications for both people and miscellaneous motion.
A setting of 3 or lower will only notify you when Canary detects a person in its view. A setting of 4 or higher will notify you when a person is detected, as well as other general motion.
Every home is different, so you may need to experiment with your settings to achieve your desired frequency of notifications.
Use a Mask
You can also tell your Canary device to ignore areas that cause unwanted video or alerts by setting up a mask. NOTE: Masks are currently available on Canary All-in-One and Canary View - coming soon to Canary Flex!
Motion events that send a notification are easily identifiable by the motion icon in the lower right of the clip, so you can quickly find and review them.
